Magua Takes Cora

A Captive Taken The separation Magua removes Cora from the safety of the Delaware encampment. His departure transforms the council’s fragile settlement into an urgent rescue problem. The pursuit Uncas and his allies follow, while Magua uses the forest and his knowledge of the terrain to keep the captive beyond reach.

The Rescue Is Planned

A Rescue Plan Intelligence David Gamut reaches Hawkeye and reports that Magua has returned with Cora and gathered Huron warriors. The report gives the rescuers a target but warns them of the enemy’s numbers. Coordination Hawkeye divides the force, assigning different approaches and signals. The plan makes Cora’s rescue the purpose of a larger attack.

The Mountain Pursuit

The Final Chase The fugitives escape The battle breaks the Huron defense, but Magua flees with Cora into the cavern and up the mountain. Uncas, Heyward, and Hawkeye follow through hazardous passages. The pursuit ends Cora refuses Magua’s ultimatum. His companion kills her; Uncas falls in the ensuing struggle, and Hawkeye finally shoots Magua as he tries to escape the precipice.
